  Do Your Own Research.

  there were several times when i was inside the congregation that i met up with a problem in my life and on mentioning it at a group i would be told to do my own research about it.. of course, they didn't mean for me to research worldly material for the answer but to use the wt indexes and look into the wt society magazines.. it was only when i started to do my own research outside of the wt that i began to see the limited scope of the society's magazines as all problems usually fell into the category of 1. read the bible, attend meetings, go out on the work, and pray; or 2. this isn't going to be fixed now but in the new world god will sort it out and the former things (what you are suffering from now) will not be called to mind.. i wonder how many people still in are struggling and are not being encouraged to research away from the organisation where they would receive practical and valuable advice?.

  JWs Still Attending on Zoom

  another topic based on a conversation with a friend living near warwick (i talked to him over the weekend).

  he said that cong's in and around bethel, including his, are slowly starting to see an uptick with people attending in person his cong is pretty much 75%+ in person.

  however there are many that still use zoom as a fall back.

  for a christian, only the moral commandments of the old testament are binding (as they cannot change), but the various liturgical, social, and other so-called casuistic laws no longer apply to them.

  this includes dietary habits, such as the prohibition of pork or fat, as well as the prohibition of blood.. take a look at the following verses: mt 15:11, mk 7:15-19, acts 11:7-9, 1 tim 4:3-5.. the jehovah's witnesses say that, yes, but in the acts of the apostles (15) the consumption of blood, idol meat, and strangled animals is also prohibited, meaning the new testament still forbids it.

  for catholics, the council of florence settled this issue, stating that this apostolic regulation was only a temporary measure to facilitate agreement between jews and gentiles in the early church.

  WT studies a truly make someone gag, sick to the stomach.

  You hear comments like ''we don't want to be overbearing with rules and commands'', or ''jeopardize someone's health and safety''.

  Yet, they have an entire WT about adhering to a deadly blood policy including using liason committee elders to enforce this with possible resulting in a disfellowshipping if someone takes a transfusion.

  Just doesn't make sense.

  Weasel Word Phrase--The Bible Does Not Say...but

  the bible does not say—the weasel word phrase that bugs me the most.

  note that though the wts says this, it then proceeds to add :.

  after jesus’ birth, why did joseph and mary remain in bethlehem instead of returning home to nazareth?.

  a little about me first: i was a 4th generation jw who had major reservations about the wt growing up, but finally got on board at age 23 when i got baptized.

  spent 8 very active years in, then 8 years out as an agnostic.

  got saved in 2004 and been living the born-again christian bible-believing life ever since.

  The Mark Martin youtube channel had a video on this a few weeks ago.

  It"s called "loaded - language" too.

  Things like "bible based" publications. And '"honest - hearted" ones.

  He related that these terms actually meant WT publications and the latter one is a gaslighting term to those who feel the need to have the WT influence their lives or otherwise vulnerable to WT teachings at the time.
